This website aims to provide a resource for owners of Buchanan bodied cars and enthusiasts with an interest in the cars.  It is designed and written by Kean Rogers of the The Kangaroo Stable.

The stable includes the
"John Reaburn Special" originally built and raced in Victoria from 1959 to 1963 by John Reaburn.  It is believed to be one of less than ten cars built with a twin box framed cruciform chassis designed by Buchanan/Pryor and built by the "Pressed Metal Corporation" to accept Holden components. A narrowed front suspension subframe bolts in and the spring mountings at the rear are sited to suit the Holden semi elliptics. A package of this frame, body, i.f.s. and a narrowed rear axle was offered at a cost of £395.

Three other vehicles to similar specification include one original car in WA, another raced by John Hunter in NSW with the Historic Sports and Racing Car Association and one in pieces in QLD with a rusted out chassis.

The Gladiator, originally a MG engined special on a Rizzo chassis with lightweight Buchanan body, is also campaigned
with the HSRCA, albeit now with a Holden motor fitted and aerodynamically enhanced nose.

For Historic racing in Australia follow the links below to the respective clubs in each state.

With 145 bodies known to have been built, to date 35% are accounted for.  If you know of a Buchanan bodied car or history of any of the Holden powered racers please email details to Buchanan

A detailed register of the cars is being compiled from any information received.  Photos of cars are most welcome and will be included with individual car histories.

The NSW Bolwell club has a page for Aussie specials, including the Buchanan. There's a great story from the son of an original owner who built one back in the late 1950's.
